Do Eye Anti Wrinkle Creams Really Work On Lines?

A very well known and respected consumer organization in the UK tested a number of leading eye anti wrinkle creams from brands such as Nivea, Olay and RoC to test them and to find out whether they really do work.  Surprisingly their tests found out that a cheap mositurizer worked better than  an expensive anti wrinkle eye cream.  But also that non of the creams came close to totally removing  the appearance of the wrinkles around the eyes.

The anti wrinkle cream test looked at 12 well known anti-wrinkle eye creams, it included one gel, and a cheap simple moisturizer that was used as a control.  The test group people were between the ages of 35 to 65.  Each of the 12 anti wrinkle eye creams was tested on between 9 and 11 of the people in the test group, this was over a period of six weeks

Top quality high definition cameras were uses to take high definition photos in laboratory conditions  of each of the testers eye areas before using the product, an hour afterwards and six then weeks later. A panel of five experts who were totally unbiased evaluated the photos and judged whether there had been any visible improvement in both wrinkle depth or wrinkle length. 

The people on which the anti wrinkle creams were being tested on were never told what creams were being used on them and also the experts evaluating the results were never told of which anti wrinkle creams were being used.

The results were disappointing because on average the anti wrinkle eye creams showed only a slight improvement in the wrinkles around the eyes.  The tests found that on average, after six weeks, only 33% of the testers’ eye areas showed any evidence of improved eye wrinkle length and only 42% showed any improvement in eye wrinkle depth.
